GRADE 1
Welcome to a new year and the beginning of Grade 1. We have been setting up new routines so that the students are able to experience a smooth transition into their learning routines.
We have been revising reading, writing and creating numbers to 20.
Students have also been learning how to write descriptive texts, where they are either copying or creating the sentences by using prompts supplied to them.
Every Monday morning the students will be writing in their journals, so in order to encourage them to record some of their ideas, it would be helpful if you could maybe discuss with them what they have done over the weekend.
Homework will be handed out every Monday and handed in every Friday. Readers will be sent home and only be changed when the reading log is signed by parents.
In Integrated Studies, Grade 1’s are exploring the topic Families. To support your child’s learning in class, we encourage you to have discussions with them about their family and significant members and their relationship to your child.
